SUMMARY:Jukai (Precepts) Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:A jukai ceremony will be held Saturday, May 30, from 3 to 4 p.m. EDT. You are invited to participate in person at the Worcester Temple (1030 Pleasant St.) or online using the Temple Zoom link.\nMembers of our sangha will be taking the precepts (jukai in Japanese)––a way of publicly acknowledging their commitment to the Way that is beyond words and forms. Taking the precepts is a vow to embrace the actual circumstances of our lives and to enter fully into whatever we encounter.\nPeople who receive the precepts wear a rakusu (pronounced “rock-su”), a black bib-like garment that is a miniaturized version of the Buddha’s robe. The jukai candidate sews this garment before taking the precepts.\nIf you plan to attend, please download our Jukai Ceremony Booklet to help you follow along.\n
