Sangha Conversation: Being Both The Kōan of Multiple Religious Belonging

Facilitated by Assistant Teacher Todd Yonkman, assisted by Steve Abdow.

Please join us for a time to share wisdom and foster conversation around the experience of practicing Zen together with another spiritual tradition(s). We will have the opportunity to spend some time in meditation together and then will break into small groups to share experiences, practices, and insights with each other before returning to the main room to discuss what we learned.

How do we find balance in our lives while practicing more than one tradition? How do we manage competing demands of family who may or may not share our faith commitments? We will explore these and other questions as they arise out of the experience of “being both.” Each of us will share our impressions and consider the perspectives of others with guidance. And we will all take refuge in Sangha as we speak and explore the Dharma together.

If you have a short text that speaks to your experience of “being both” that you would like to share with the group. Email it to toddyonkman@gmail.com.

Todd Yonkman is a minister in the United Church of Christ and longtime Zen practitioner.

This program is free and open to all (pre-registration is not required). Donations to Boundless Way Zen Temple are welcome: https://boundlessway.org/donate/.
