For more than three decades we have journeyed together in our life of practice creating physical and virtual spaces of sanctuary where we can live into our vows to save all beings and embody the Buddha way. The Maitreya Society was formed to encourage us to leave a legacy gift to Boundless Way Zen Temple securing the future for those who come after us. Maitreya Bodhisattva is considered the future Buddha. We have an opportunity to create a legacy to help keep the Dharma alive in the future and provide lasting support for our teachers, students and temple by leaving a planned gift to BWZT.
Legacy Giving Can Be Simple
Bequests (Wills and Trusts)
The most common way to make a legacy gift is to make a bequest through a will or trust. You may leave a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder (residue) after other gifts have been made. This can be as simple as adding a single sentence to your estate documents.
Sample Bequest Language:
A general bequest: “I give the sum of_______ dollars ($_____) to Boundless Way Zen Temple, of Worcester, Massachusetts, for its general purpose and use.”
A residuary bequest: “I give _______ percent (___%) of the residue of my estate to Boundless Way Zen Temple, of Worcester, Massachusetts, for its general purpose and use.”
Life Insurance
You may name BWZT as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
Making BWZT a Retirement Account Beneficiary
An IRA, 401(k), or a pension plan can have Boundless Way named as a full or partial beneficiary.
Bank & Brokerage Accounts
You can name BWZT as a pay-on-death (POD) or transfer-on-death (TOD) beneficiary on checking, savings, CDs, and brokerage accounts.
